THE SPEAKERS
Dr. Jean-Pierre Meeresseman, D.C., Hon. D.I.B.A.K., President and founder of AIKA in 1988 and founding Vice-President of ICAK-Italy in 2006, with a degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, has been teaching in Europe and worldwide for over 40 years and is well-known for discovering the relationship between dental occlusion and posture defects.
In 1972, he founded the Chiropractic Center at the Sanrocco Clinic. In 1990, he founded the JPM Chiropractic Clinic, focusing particularly on sports, following AC Milan for years and creating the MilanLab project, with the aim of maintaining the health of footballers and athletes and improving their performance.
During the 1980s, Meersseman, and Chiropractic in general, enjoyed great consideration in Italy from numerous figures in politics, entertainment, and industry who came to the San Rocco Clinic in Como for treatment: in the sports world alone, over 100 world and Olympic champions were treated by Jean Pierre Meersseman.
Prof. Fabio Scoppa, born in Rome where he lives and works, is a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Ph.D. in Physiology, Psychologist Psychotherapist, Osteopath D.O., Ph.D.
He teaches at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (formerly I Faculty of Medicine and Surgery) of Sapienza University of Rome, an activity that began in the academic year 1997-1998 with the teaching of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Over these 25 years, he has been a lecturer in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including:
- the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery (Course in Nervous System Diseases),
- the Degree Course in Physiotherapy (Integrated Course in Post-surgical Rehabilitation),
- the School of Specialization in Neurology,
- the School of Specialization in Geriatrics,
- the Master’s in Posturology,
- the Master’s in Specialist Methodologies in Posturology,
- the Master’s in Occlusal-postural Rehabilitation,
- the Master’s in Assessment and Treatment of Visual-postural Disorders,
- the Master’s in Geriatric Rehabilitation,
- the Master’s in Naturopathy.
Dr. Joseph Cannillo D.C., Ph.D. has been awarded the title of “Chiropractor of the Year 2024” for his dedication and active contribution in promoting the chiropractic profession in Italy. An Italian-American, born in Puglia, Cannillo is responsible for the scientific commission of the AIC and boasts an important professional curriculum developed mainly in the United States, where he obtained degrees in biology and chiropractic, as well as various academic specializations in the healthcare field.
Dr. Joseph Cannillo, biologist, expert in functional medicine, chiropractic doctor, lecturer, and consultant in clinical phytotherapy, spagyrics, and nutrigenomics in Europe and the United States of America, has 30 years of experience as a chiropractic doctor, starting in the United States and continuing in Italy at his practice.
Considered among the best specialists in the field in Europe, he is a consultant for prominent professionals, including international-level athletes. President of the Scientific Commission of A.I.C. (Italian Chiropractic Association) and author of scientific articles in the Chiropractic & Health magazine.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SEMINAR
The Nutrition-Metabolic (biochemical) side of the health Triangle, with its multiple aspects (integration and nutritional deficiencies), affects and influences our health.
Intoxication causes health problems, but not every intoxication is dramatic or can cause immediate symptoms of illness, making it difficult to identify: a small gas leak from domestic stoves or pesticides deposited on fruits or vegetables can insidiously intoxicate, as can prolonged use of medications.
The Kinesiologist can evaluate, with appropriate muscle tests, the effects of chemical compounds and medicines on the body and recommend useful nutritional complexes to improve the general state of health.
Inflammation and nutrition
Biochemical and metabolic effects of nutritional modulation.
The current understanding of the relationship between food and inflammation allows for the use of simple nutritional suggestions with results sometimes more satisfactory than those obtained with (albeit effective) traditional drugs.
Through nutrition, it is possible to modulate many aspects of chronic inflammatory diseases and promote the recovery of health and well-being, giving value to the patient’s autonomy. This is a valuable contribution to the care and treatment of patients with various pathologies by Doctors, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, and other professionals, by all those who care for the health and well-being of the person.
In light of the most recent discoveries in the field, based on precise scientific documentation, during the two weekend seminars, Doctors Fabio Scoppa and Joseph Cannillo will illustrate the fundamental relationships between nutrition and inflammatory processes affecting various body districts, from the gastrointestinal to the musculoskeletal. For example, the relationships between chronic joint inflammation and food reactions will be discussed and explained, addressing the topic in a concrete way and providing tools and indications that can be immediately used in clinical practice.
Ample space will also be given to the topics of nutritional integration through functional foods or specific “supplements”, real tools to help with a global approach to patient care.
In the course proposed by Aika, Prof. Scoppa, Prof. Cannillo, and Dr. Jean Pierre Meersseman will address the following topics:
